About Lori Moretti

Lori was born with a crayon in her hand. Throughout her elementary and secondary school years, she could always be found in the art room, painting prolifically, and creating works in various mediums. During this time, Lori studied for several years under master painter Joseph Salafia. She earned a dual degree in Psychology and Fine Arts from Tufts University and the School of the Museum of Fine Arts.

After graduating college, Lori pursued a career in advertising and, in 1986, struck out on her own to found CM Communications, a boutique PR agency specializing in arts & entertainment and travel & hospitality clients. The company proved to be a worthy conduit for Lori’s talent and creativity and is now among the leading PR firms in New England.

While balancing her professional career and life as an artist, Lori has continued to refine her skills, studying under Mark Daniel Nelson, Robert Henry and Jim Peters, among other notable artists. She frequents workshops at the Provincetown Fine Arts Center, Provincetown Art Association and South Shore Art Center, and has exhibited in a number of national juried shows. Lori accepts commissions and has sold paintings to private collectors.

In the May/June 2021 issue of Artscope magazine, critic Beth Neville wrote about “Doreen,” a 18” X 24” acrylic painting on exhibition at A Near Perfect Pivot at SSAC, “Great art combines three qualities: a sure command of the media, a unique creative idea, and a universal symbol. This work exhibits all three…” Read the full review here.

Artist’s Statement

“Inherent in my paintings is the outlook of a girl raised during a time when society made a big shift in its expectations of women. These mixed messages created a chasm within which both females and males became preternaturally trapped. A product of the psycho dynamics of an era, my paintings reflect the confusion, alienation and loneliness of the individual in solitude, in groups, and of society as a whole. The majority of my work is figurative. However, I am compelled to express similar themes in my landscapes and cityscapes, finding emotional resonance and pathos in the most common places.”
